Marion Cotillard Bad Death Scene In The Dark Knight Rises (Spoilers)

Spoilers Warning !!!

Ok, so I got to say first off that I enjoyed the movie, but I got to be honest and say that there were many things that didn't make sense, as well as some plot holes. But one particular scene had me almost laughing out loud, and it's not because of the script (or maybe it was).

That scene was Marion Cotillard's Death Scene, who in the film acted as ra's al ghul's daughter. She was actually good throughout the film only to be undone by her final scene. I can't believe an actress who has won an Oscar could be so bad at playing dead (although seeing Halle Berry in Catwoman maybe I shouldn't have been surprised). To just blame her would be unfair though, maybe that was the direction Christopher Nolan gave her, even if it wasn't how could he have let it made the cut.

It was the sort of dying action you would expect to see in a school play, and at kindergarten level at that.

"I.......was.........shown.......how........to........flood....the.reactor........ha...hahahah"
"you......will...never......stop.....my.............plan....my....father's....vision..will.....be...fulfill"

Then just slump forward suddenly and stop moving to end the sentence.

What is more amazing and made the scene even more comical is during her speech the camera would several times cut to Batman, Catwoman and commissioner Gordon just standing there listening to her speak.

Errrr.......HELLO...There is a NUCLEAR bomb right next to you that is about to explode in under five minutes, don't you guys think that is a bit more important than listening to this woman right now??? If she had just talked for a few minute longer they probably would have just stood there until the bomb explode.

  1. I completely agree. That scene was terrible. As soon as it ended - I wondered how it made the cut. My 5 year old sister played a better a death in a school play and that's no exaggeration!

  2. Worst dying scene from the 21st century...
It looked like lame scene of war movies from the 80's.

  12. Not her fault. but at a crucial time, that scene broke the movie for me... the movie overall should of been better, we deserved better.

  13. Everyone is missing the point there. She didn't get shot! She wasn't driving the truck! She was in the passenger seat when the driver got gunned down. Then when Batman opens the door she's in the driver's seat and FAKING HER DEATH! It's supposed to look fake to allude to the fact that she's not actually dying!

  14. Are you crazy? The driver died and she kicked him out of the truck, grab the wheel and then heavily crashed. She was bleeding too.
    She's long gone, my friend.

I watched it in the premiere in IMAX and no body laughed cause we were a bunch of bat-nolan-nerds and so caught up in the movie. But watching in it again it really kills the mood...so weird cause she's actually a pretty great actress!

She should've said: Your move, Beloved! hhaahahhaha--ark I am dying now! X____X
