What Happens At The End Of The Grey After The End Credits

For those of us who left the cinema puzzled and a bit confused after the credits started rolling for The Grey, there was actually an extra scene after the end credits that kind of vaguely explains what happens after the fight.

The scene only lasted a few seconds but in it we see a close up shot of the alpha wolf's stomach breathing heavily, its pretty much the same as for the wolf Liam Neeson shot and mortally wounded at the beginning of the movie before it died. I think it is trying show that Liam Neeson has killed the alpha wolf, or at least mortally wounded it and it is about to die.

BUT

Just on the edge of the shot you can make out Liam Neeson's head resting on the alpha wolf's body (you can't actually see his face or head, just his hair), so maybe he also died in the fight, but we don't know and it is pretty much left to our imagination as to his fate.

As for the movie and especially the ending, I think there will be many people very annoyed or even demanding their money back. I remembered when people complained about the ending...or non ending for the movie Skyline, well in this case the way the movie ended might upset people even more, since it really felt like the entire movie was leading you up to this one final battle...and then...cut. It is like leaving the climax of the movie out, but of course it also depends on your expectations of the movie and what type of movie you wanted to see.

  1. the film started off so well, but it just kept going downhill and finally the ending just sealed it as a bad movie, what a shame.

  2. This movie really reminded me that there is a really fine line between a good movie and a bad one.

Pity because some polish to the plot (and many plot holes), and of course a better ending could have really made this a really good movie.

  3. It was ridiculous, they just kept killing themselves the wolves didn't have to do anything.

One guy fell to his death because of an insanely stupid plan to cross a river. Another guy blew his knee out because of the same stupid plan, couldn't walk anymore and therefore was left to the wolves. Another died of altitude sickness and exhaustion because they tought it would be a good idea to go on a forced march through the blizzard. Another fell in the river and drowned himself, and another was killed because instead of walking along together they decided to leave like 100 meters between them so that the wolves could pick them off.

  4. You sir are an asswipe for the plot spoiler. This was an excellent movie. A really fragile and emotional break down of humanity when all odds are against survival.

    1. Considering their constant attempts at killing themselves, their odds of survival were nonexistent.

    2. Err...the post does say "what happens at the end of The Grey", so if you don't want to know what happens then...err i don't know...don't read it???

Unless of course you are as dumb as the characters in this film, which is probably why you like it.

  5. This is one of those films where no one is wrong in their opinion. If you hated it, you can be justified in that. If you loved it, same again. I for one, thought it was a masterpiece. Liam Neeson is again, brilliant, and the supporting cast is surprisingly solid.
I have never really been in a survival situation as depicted in the film, however I have been in the army for 8 years and can tell you that on a tedious forced march like this, some will fall behind. Always, always happens..
    Loved it.

  6. I think people will either love or hate this film. At least for most people I talked to anyway, very few people are in between.

  7. what really annoys me is how they keep playing the flashback of his wife saying "don't be afraid" every 5 seconds (a bit of an exageration I know), I mean maybe once or twice would have made for a better impact.

  8. well one thing is true. you have to get up off your ass and do it yourself. i would rather it end this way then look up while shouting at something and end up falling off a cliff cause i wasn't looking where i was walking.

  10. I thought this movie was fantastic. And im not going to take anyones opinion about this movie who actually thought skyline was a remotely good flick. Films today are absolutely terrible, its mind numbing the amount of garbage hollywood is producing what they call a motion picture. This film was done very well. Finally a movie thats not over kill on action, explosions, silly plots, and horrible acting. But it goes deeper then that. The ending i thought was great, why? Cause it makes you think. The poem repeated throughout the movie goes hand and hand with the ending. Great movie, one of my favorites this year. But, this is all just my opinion.
